So, if you had the option to buy one or the other, I'd almost certainly recommend the Multiforce. Only checked Amazon in the US, so not sure if it applies elsewhere but worth looking into. On the plus side, the Bibury has a small flat head screwdriver that the Ozark Trail does not.Īlso, the Bibury is USUALLY more expensive ($50 on Amazon vs the $40 Multifoce at Walmart) but I just looked it up and Amazon currently has a 20% off coupon that drops it to $40 as well. It's also got the outside accessible tools set up in reverse, so it's more similar to the Wave, but everyone pretty much agrees the Multiforce is an improvement over the Wave in this regard. The Bibury lacks a pocket clip and doesn't come with a bit extender. Both tools are 9.6 oz, so 1.1 oz heavier than the Leatherman Wave+. The Bibury 922.7848 19-in-1 multitool is an EXTREMELY similar multitool (the Ozark Trail is actually made by Bibury). I don't quite understand it and am hoping I'm missing something. The SwissTool Spirit X is the cheapest, yet it's $230NZ (about $160US), which is close to the price of a Wave+ here, compared to a Wingman for $110NZ (about $75US). I thought sellers around here put ridiculous markup on Leatherman products but they're not the worst. You can get a limited edition Skeletool for $75US, or a Wingman for $70US. I think the cheapest one was something like $130US on their website. Were you looking at getting a SAK or a SwissTool? I was looking at them the other day and couldn't believe the high prices on their SwissTools. I think the Wingman is one of few Leatherman models that are spring-loaded, which is also a pretty good pro, IMO. I recently got a "like new" Rev and immediately saw pros and cons, which lead me to the Wingman after recalling that some people swapped the straight edge on a Rev for the Combo edge on a Wingman, to improve it. It won't have everything that's on the market, but it will give you a good idea of what's available. it's used a lot over at r/flashlight for this) using a variety of parameters. It's a database that allows you to filter multitools (as well as flashlights, batteries, etc. There are others as well don't be afraid to look outside the big 4.Ī really useful site that might help you is. SOG has a similar reputation to Gerber, but they've been gaining traction in the EDC world lately. Gerber gets a somewhat bad rap, and while their tools are undoubtedly of lower quality, I have personally had good luck with them and they are more creative than the aforementioned manufacturers. In terms of brands, Victorinox and Leatherman are the best quality on the market. ![]() Then you can narrow down what works best for you. Pay attention to when you use or would like to use a tool of any kind to help guide what to look for in a multitool. ![]() If you carry on a belt or in a bag, a larger tool is much easier to handle.Īs others have mentioned, what toolset you want is also important. However, there are plenty of people who pocket a larger multitool, so it's up to you. If you pocket carry as I do, something like a Gerber Crucial (my EDC), Leatherman Skeletool, or similar compact multitool might serve you well (personally, I find a knife, small pliers, and some drivers to be all I typically need on a given day).
